Earlier this year when we were talking about what trips we wanted to take this year, Austin said "Remember that museum we went to with all the slides? I want to go there again!" He was talking about the city museum in St Louis so we made a plan to go there this July with some of our family.
The nice thing about vacationing with other families is that the kids enjoy the car ride a little more!
And when the kids are happy the parents are happy!
We arrived at our hotel in St Louis on Thursday night just in time for a evening swim!
Then the next day we went to the City Museum which in my opinion, is one of the most crazy and creative places ever! It is basically a large playhouse mostly made up of repurposed architecture and industrial objects. I grabbed this picture from the internet that shows some of the fun stuff outside and on the top of the building.
Both outside and inside is full of places to climb, and crawl, and slide. The left side of the above picture shows part of one of the slides.
Mikayla and Kambria getting ready to go down the slide
Another part of the museum has huge skate-like ramps that kids run up and down on or slide on.
Austin and his cousins spent a lot of time attempting to run up this ramp and pull themselves up and over the top. Austin finally got in just as we were about to leave.
Another part of the museum. There are so many crawl spaces up in the ceiling and below the ground and a hole section of caves to explore which leads to the 10 story slide.
These kids were having so much fun! It was hard to keep up with them. I did manage to go down a few slides and crawl through some tunnels but my adult body just doesn't bend as easily and as quickly as these kids.
I'm impressed these boys sat still long enough to take a picture.
These two babies had their own fun climbing up and sliding down the ramps themselves.
Train time!
Another picture I grabbed from the internet. I was too busy keeping up with kids and babies to focus on taking pictures so the ones I have don't do this place justice.
Outside there are crazy tunnels to crawl around in. When we first got to the museum it had been raining so all the outside stuff was closed. But luckily by noon it has cleared up and we got to enjoy the outside fun!

This visit the roof was open so we took advantage and paid extra to see what it had to offer.
Another large slide to climb up and slide down.
Getting ready to slide down.
There is even a Ferris wheel on the roof!
Since it was close to 100 degrees outside, this water spot quickly became a favorite place to cool off. Surprisingly, no one ended up falling in the water.
Ahh! Much better!
The bus that is positioned so the front part of it is hanging over the edge of the roof. When you are inside you can open the front school bus door and look down the street down below.
A long way down!!
Another fun slide!
When people ask me what the city museum is like I basically tell them it is the biggest playground ever! No wonder all these kids had so much fun!
Even Brooklyn was brave enough to do it!
We spent all day here and had a great time!
After our day at the city museum we went over to Fitz for dinner and root-beer floats!
Wow! Now that is a root-beer float!
Yum! Yum!
The perfect end to a perfect day!
