About a month before school ended, Austin came home telling me about the science camp that is offered during the summer and that it looks really fun. Then he said with a hesitant voice "but it is $80" knowing that is a lot of money. What he didn't know was that I was thinking "Really? Only $80 for a week of science camp? That sounds great." But then I discovered it was actually 3 payments of $80. And yes $240 is definitely a lot of money! So I got the idea that we could do our own science camp and get together with a couple other moms and each take a day. It would be way cheaper, the kids would have a lot of fun, and it would give the moms a chance to enjoy it too!
For Day 1 of Science camp the kids made lemon volcanoes, elephant toothpaste, watercolor sand paintings, and ice-cream in a bag! Most of the stuff they did was outside and since I live right next door I could occasionally hear the happy sounds of children's voices. At one point they were pretty noisy so I peeked out my window and could see them running around in her backyard in order to make their ice-cream! Now that was a genius way to burn some energy in the name of science!!

Elephant Toothpaste
The kids came home so excited about what they did and couldn't wait for the next day!
Definitely two thumbs up for Day 1 of science camp!
