The school did a fantastic job organizing the land run for the 3rd graders.
The kids were divided up into families.
This was Austin's family. He was the "pa" and they had a set of twins in their family.
They weren't really twins but pretty close.
The family crest on the front of their wagon. I guess Austin and his classmate Andrew were the ones who mostly worked on creating it.
Gunny sack races
Roping the cow
Learning about chickens
After holding these baby chicks, all I heard for the next 30 minutes was how Austin wanted a baby chick and that we could keep it in the backyard. HaHa!!
Finding some Friends
Gunny sack racing with the "pa" of another family.
Getting all lined up for the land run.
Austin was designated the runner of his family in charge of staking a claim on their land.
The family flag that they made to claim their land.
New land owners!
We sat down and had a picnic pioneer-style lunch.
Petting the horses
Watermelon Spitting
Square-dancing--Austin's favorite (not really but he was pretty good at it)
I may have even got some of it on video (haha)
Making butter
Learning how to wash clothes
Dipping candles
While the girls were making toy dolls out of yarn the boys were given a tin can and a hammer.
Corn shucking and drinking homemade rootbeer (which tasted so good!)
So glad I got to participate with Austin on this super fun day!!
