Brooklyn is growing up fast.
Took a picture of Brooklyn's first attempt with a spoon and she actually did a pretty good job. She is a pro at it now and hardly makes a mess. Sometimes she will even take off her bib and throw it on the floor as if she is too good to wear it. She has gotten picky about what she will eat. Things she used to eat she will no longer touch like mac and cheese or anything bread. Her favorites are cereal with milk, pop-tarts, applesauce, pears, yogurt, apples, cantaloupe, crackers, corn and mashed potatoes. Now that she can open doors she will open up the pantry door and help herself to crackers or fruit snacks. Which reminds me that I need to get a lock on that door.
Brooklyn loves to be outside. She loves riding in the power-wheel car, getting pushed down the sidewalk in her cozy car, coloring with sidewalk chalk, or running after a ball. When she is inside, Brooklyn likes to push around a stroller with a baby inside.
She also likes to find the crayons and markers that Mikayla leaves in her reach. Sometimes she will stick to coloring on paper but several times it has been the wall, or table, or bed, or herself. One day I took off her pants for a bath and discovered she had colored up and down both legs.
Today Brooklyn discovered the princess shoes. She put one shoe on all by herself and started walking around with a silly grin. Kayla helped her put on the other one and she thought she was pretty big.
Brooklyn LOVES watching Sofia The First on TV. When I turn it on she will smile and squeal and run around the living room with excitement. She will sit down and watch the entire episode without budging which really helps when I need 20 min to get something done.
Even though they are 5 years apart in age, Kayla enjoys playing with Brooklyn and they have lots of fun together. A couple weeks ago Kayla got hurt and was crying and Brooklyn walked over to her with her arms out in the hugging position. All on her own initiative. Things are pretty quiet around the home with just me and Brooklyn so she loves when Austin and Kayla get home from school. In fact if we are outside when the bus comes down the street she runs and squeals with excitement. Makes my heart smile every time.
Brooklyn and her cousin Bristol took a bike ride together around the neighborhood. Brooklyn is now at the point where she enjoys playing around friends. She is used to having her big brother and sister at home which are so much older than her. So when she gets around other friends her size I can tell she is thinking "hey you are little just like me."
Brooklyn hasn't been much for words. She understands what I am saying and follows directions but it has really only been in the last couple weeks that she has shown interest in trying to talk. She has said mama several times but I am mostly "mum" to her. Just a couple days ago she clearly said "dada." For several months she has been waving bye-bye and when we get ready to put her to bed she will wave when we say "night night." She is such a cute and easy-going little girl. The only thing that is difficulty right now is taking her grocery shopping. She has decided she does not want to sit in that cart anymore even if I bring snacks. But that just tells me she is growing up and asserting her independence in what little ways she can.
I love this little girl and the sweetness she adds to our family!!
