My sister Kristina decided that she wanted to serve a mission and was called
to serve in the Tucson, Arizona mission for 18 months.
So the beginning of this year started with several of our family going to the OKC Temple with Kristina in preparation for her mission. It was a really nice experience being in the temple with several of my family members that I love so dearly.
The Sunday before she left I was able to be there as our Stake President set her apart as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My first thoughts were "this is a baby sister who has grown up to be such a beautiful young woman and is setting such a good example for me her oldest sister." There are so many things she could be choosing to do at this time in her life at age 19 but she has chosen to put everything on hold for 18 months as she dedicates all her time to serving the Lord and teaching people about Jesus Christ. It makes me reflect on my own life and if I have my priorities set the way they should be. I am so proud of her and know that she will be such a great missionary and will be able to touch the lives of everyone she comes in contact with.
