Austin is growing up fast and is such a delight to have in our home.
He loves our dogs and is gentle with them so they have learned to trust him.
Abby will frequently jump up on the couch next to Austin and lay on his lap.
Austin is enjoying kindergarten and his best subject is math.....he is good with numbers and adding....perhaps another future accountant in the Bastings family.
Some of Austin's favorites:
Food: Mac & Cheese, grilled cheese sandwhiches, pizza, bread, apples and bananas, and peanut butter & jelly sandwhiches which he takes everyday for school lunch (his choice)
TV Shows: Thundercats and Wild Kratts (he is such a good sport and will even watch Strawberry Shortcake and Dora with his sister)
Things To Do: play games, puzzles, play swords with daddy, ride his bike and scooter, play soccer (he even scored a "Perfect" 555 points on the Wii Fit soccer game)
Toys: tanks, army stuff, and blocks/legos
Austin is a great big brother. He does like to tease his sister sometimes but that's just what big brothers do right? He is really good about playing with her and they have lots of fun together.
My family came over on his birthday and we celebrated with some presents, cake and ice-cream.
Because of the holidays, I had several of my family members in town (my parents, my sisters Jessica and Kristina, and my brother Brandon and his wife Jenna who flew in the night before from Utah).
Austin told me that he wanted a "battlefield cake" for his birthday so this is what I came up with.
He was pretty happy with it.
Austin was thrilled when he opened up this present. As soon as we brought it out he knew exactly what it was--wrapped and all. He had seen this at the store a week before his birthday and all I heard for the whole week was how much he wanted that toy. After he opened it he exclaimed "I wanted this!! It was 34 dollars!!"

He did a great job with this 100 piece puzzle!!
The kids had a fun time taking all the balloons left by the "balloon fairy" and attaching them to the wall using static.
Happy 6th Birthday Austin!!
So glad you are part of our family!!!
