Take Me Out To The Ballgame

Over the summer we enjoyed spending our Monday nights out at the softball fields.

Craig played left center field for the season
(although in the picture he was taking a turn at shortstop since it was the last game)
The boys had a fun time running around together, getting snacks, collecting bottle caps, and playing tag and other games.

Meanwhile the girls had fun playing with the rocks, doing "gymnastics" on the gate, and getting snacks at the concession stand also.
They put together a pretty good team and won 16 out of 16 games....a perfect season!!
Way to Go Boys----can't wait till next year!

Cousin Time

(Austin, Klayton, Connor, Nathan, Katie, Derek, Kambria, Jessica, Mikayla, Meagan)
Mike and Sara's kids came up for about 4 days and so these 10 cousins spent countless hours playing together and having a good time.
They enjoyed spending some time at the water at Sooner Park.
Klayton and Austin getting in the water....boys will be boys
Looking for snails
We also drove up to Independence and went swimming at the waterpark there.
 Mikayla and Katie
Did manage to get pictures of everyone in the lazy river (except myself)

One rainy afternoon we all went to the movies together and saw The Croods
The kids spent lots of time playing on the Wii together or just playing with toys
Our neighbors got out their bounce slide and were kind to let us all come over and use it

Jessica and Meagan making paper rockets
Mike made a rocket launcher and the kids had a blast launching their rockets high into the air
Swimming in Papa Dave and Grandma Deb's pool

And every night was a sleepover night....the kids LOVED spending all this time with their cousins!!

Summer Swimming

Our summer has been full of swimming fun....mostly because we have so many swimming options available to us with little or no cost. Swimming is easy entertainment, gets out plenty of energy, and the kids love it!!

Swimming Lessons:

We started off the summer with swimming lessons for 4 weeks in June and the kids learned a lot. Mikayla was in the Starfish class and worked on jumping in the pool, front and back floats, and kicking with her face in the water. She enjoyed having a friend from church in her class which made it more fun.
Austin was in the Dolphin class and worked on freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke, kneel dive, stride dive, and treading water for 1 minute. He said that treading water was the hardest but was proud that he could do it. He also enjoyed having a friend from church in his class as well.

Grandma and Grandpa Reid's pool:
The kids also got to enjoy swimming every Wednesday at my parents pool. The first week of summer they only filled the pool up part way so even Mikayla could touch the bottom.

Dave and Debbie's pool:

We also enjoyed getting together with family and hanging out at this pool.

Our Neighborhood pool:
We loved having a pool just right down the street from our house. We would enjoy running into friends from the neighborhood at the pool and occasionally we would bring some friends of our own to join us there.
Frontier Pool:

On most Thursdays on the summer we would meet up with cousins at Frontier pool to swim. Kayla and Kambria enjoyed playing together in the kiddie area.
Even though Austin and Klayton are excellent swimmers there is a height restriction to these slides. At the beginning of the summer they weren't tall enough. At the end of the summer they wanted to go and get measured again and were surprised and thrilled when the lifeguard said they were tall enough to go down. So that is what they did over and over and over. They were loving it until unfortunately the head lifeguard measured them and said they were just a tad too short still. They were pretty disappointed at first but still enjoyed the rest of the pool.

Phillips 66 Pool:

We also enjoyed going to the pool here which was indoor and a nice break from the sun. The boys discovered the power and fun of the flippers. Austin loved how fast he could swim while using them.
They also enjoyed using some of the swim toys that were available.

 Kayla practicing her back float
The boys had fun doing different jumps off the diving board.
 Connor doing a cannonball
Austin doing a "pencil" jump as they call it
The girls also learned they could jump of the diving board with life-jackets and although they were nervous about it at first they loved being able to be like the "big kids".

So much fun!!
Independence pool:
To celebrate our 100 days of scripture reading, we join up with Jeff & Andrea and kids and went to the Independence water park. Unfortunately, Craig became sick the day before so wasn't able to join us.
Austin and Klayton were so excited to find out that they were tall enough to ride the slides here and so that is what they spent most of their time doing.
The even got brave enough to ride the toilet bowl slide.
While the boys were off having their fun, Me and Andrea stayed in the Kiddie section with Kayla and Kambria and enjoyed watching them have a fun time.

There was also a high-diving board which the boys loved also. I was surprised when I watched Austin get up there for the first time and jump off without even hesitating. He loved it!

We had a fantastic time swimming this summer and the kids are little fish because of it!!
