Spring Break: Colorado Springs

For Spring Break this year we packed up and headed out west to Colorado.
To make the 10 hour drive a little more fun for the kids, we stopped a few times along the way to search for a geocache. In this one we found in Kansas, we took the Travel Bug inside which has a tracker on it and decided to re-plant it once we got to Colorado.
The kids were super excited about seeing their cousins. Kayla and Rachel had lots of fun playing together and spent lots of time downstairs dancing to music (one of Rachel's favorite things to do). Kayla got to join Rachel one day for her dance class which she enjoyed.
Austin and Tyler also had a great time playing together whether it was playing mario on the Wii or going geocaching in Colorado Springs.
The day after we arrived in Colorado Springs, Craig's brother, his wife and their baby drove down from Denver. Austin and Kayla were excited to meet their newest cousin, Bristol. Austin really enjoyed holding her.
As did Kayla....even though Bristol wasn't too happy at this moment.
Kayla liked playing little "mommy" and telling me what it was she thought that baby Bristol needed.
One day we took the kids over to Jump N Jacks Bounce Place. Don't let these silly faces fool you. The kids had a great time. They ran, jumped, climbed, and went down the slides for 2 hours.

My sister and her husband who were super nice to let us stay at their home for 5 days.
Me and Craig also took the kids to play Glow In The Dark Mini Golf.
They had a fun Laser game where you go inside a room, the laser beams light up and you have to cross from one end to the other and back while trying to dodge the lasers. Above is Austin doing it which he did a pretty good job.
We tried to get Kayla to do it also but she was too nervous about the laser beams and only made it under one before turning around and coming back.
So Craig took her turn instead.
One day we tagged along while Craig played some frisbee golf.
After playing frisbee golf we met up with my sister, husband, and kids at their local indoor pool which had a wave pool, lazy river, whirpool, and slide. It was a pretty neat place and the kids loved it.
Our fun St. Patrick's day fruit plate we ate with dinner.
Getting ready to watch Wreck It Ralph
As you can tell, the kids had a super fun time with their cousins.

Scripture Power

One of my goals this year is to be more consistent with the kids and scripture study. So in order to help me with this I made a scripture chart for the kids to put a star on everynight we read. Then after every 25 days of reading we celebrate by doing something fun as a family.
So last week we reached out first 25 mark and decided to go to Incredible Pizza together and the kids had a fun time playing games.

Craig took Austin and they had a fun time playing Laser Tag together.
The kids also had a fun time watching Jet & Jim 3D adventure together.
It was a fun night and a great way to start off our scripture reading chart.

Geocaching 101

Being in the Scouting Program, Craig recently discovered how much fun Geocaching can be and has gotten the kids equally excited about it. Although to them it is known as "Treasure Hunting."

Basically, you pick a geocach that you want to find and get the coordinates. Then using a GPS device of some kind go search until you find it.
Once you find it, you write your name in the log book and then you can take a trinket that was placed inside and replace it with one of yours.
This one was called "On A Rail On A Road"
Grandpa Dave even went out with Austin and Craig so see what this whole thing was about and they had a good time.....found 5 different "treasures."
Several times Craig has taken Austin out to go treasure hunting....just the two of them. They equally share the same excitement and enthusiasm and it is fun listening to Austin as he explains where and what they found. Such great Father/Son time.
The best thing about this whole thing.....it gets the kids outside, it is fun and it is free!!
Thank-you Craig for being a fun dad!

February Door of Fame

Some of Kayla's numbers, letters, and a picture of something--although I am not sure what it was.
Austin made several cards like these being Valentines month and all.
On the inside of this card was the following....
It's nice to know that my son appreciates me cooking dinner....even if most of the time it is stuff like tacos, spaghetti, pizza, or mac & cheese.

One More Snow Day

For the third week in a row we got another sprinkling of snow. This time we went over to Sooner Park to do some sledding down the hill.
Austin and his friend Braxton went down the hill a few times together.
Kayla had a fun time going down with her cousin Kambria.
Connor and Braxton racing down the snowy hill.
The boys even found enough snow to build a couple snowmen.
So glad we got a little bit of snow this year for the kids to enjoy!
