One Year Older....

Happy Birthday Craig!! You are a wonderful husband.....
and a great dad too!!

Welcome Home Elder Reid

What better way to celebrate the first day of 2013 than going to the airport and welcoming my brother Nathan home from his 2 year mission in Argentina. We were all super excited he was coming home!
Sweet embrace between mother and son
 And between father and son
I don't think Kayla knew who he was at first but it didn't take long for her to warm up to him.
And once we got back to B'ville we met up with Craig and Austin.
Unfortunately we only got to enjoy Nathan for a couple days before he had to leave for BYU.
But we are sure proud of him, his dedication to serve, and the great missionary that he was!!

From Our Family To Yours

Merry Christmas!!
And a Happy New Year!!

(yes I know....I have been a little behind :)

December Door of Fame

Lots of fun things like Christmas Trees, and candy canes, and Santa Clause.
I enjoy the pictures that Austin is expected to write a phrase without help spelling the words but instead to "sound it out."

And Kayla is getting really good at writing her letters too.
I thought she did a good job drawing this rainbow picture.

New Years Eve

We did the typical New Years Eve thing:
1) Got together with our family
2). Enjoyed a variety of yummy food throughout the night
3). The bigger kids played the Wii
4). The little kids ran around the house playing with whatever they could fine
(in this case the dress up clothes)
5). And the rest of us were entertained for hours with game-playing
6). We all stayed up till midnight
(except for Austin who fell asleep at 11:30pm)
7. Then at midnight we drank our sparkling grape juice and opened our fortune cookies.
Happy New Year!!

Bastings Bowl Part 2

On Saturday morning, we met up at the church and enjoyed some yummy homemade cinnamon rolls made by Vicki and then started the next round of the Bastings Bowl competition. The kids competed for the fasted time in the obstacle course:
3 Forward Rolls (Austin)
Forward Roll (Maddie)
Crawl through the tunnel (Kambria)
It was more like Squeeze through the tunnel for the older kids (Tanner)
Hopscotch (Connor)
Ride the tricycle around the white cones (Kayla)
Tricycle (Meagan)
Toss 3 balls into the bucket (Klayton)
Go down the slide (Austin)
Walk the line (Austin)
Walk the Line (Derek)
Running Ladders (Sariah)
Crabwab (Jessica)
Soccer ball between the legs (Katy)
Cross the finish line (Austin)

It was fun watching all the kids do this. Winner with the fastest time was Connor!

Next up was around-the-world-basketball for the adults.
The women got to make shots closer to the basket.
While the men had to stand farther away for their shots.
Winner of basketball was Kristi (but I did come in 2nd).

Next up was the Minute-to-Win-It competition. We drew out of a cup to pick our partner and our challenge which must be completed in one minute.

Bouncing the ball and catching it in the bucket

Use the balloon to blow cups off the table
Kick off your shoe and land it on the table

Flick the rubber bands to knock soda cans off the table
Toss the balls onto the peanut butter and jelly

Seperate M&M into cups in the order of the colors of a rainbow
Who can pull out all the tissues from the box the fastest?
Who can keep both balloons up in the air the longest?
The winners from the above competitions then played this game.
Put the panty-hose on your head which had a tennis ball in the end and use it to knock down all the pop bottles.
At least we all got a good laugh out of all this competition silliness.
A few days later awards were handed out.
Maddie was the winner of the kids competition and received a gift card to Cold Stone Creamery.
Jeff was the winner of the adult competition and received the Bastings Bowl Trophy.
Here he is delivering his acceptance speech.
Good times!
