Spring Break Part 1

For the first half of spring break we had fun just staying at home and doing things around town.
We enjoyed some lazy mornings not having to rush out the door. The kids enjoy watching Sofia the First. Even Austin doesn't complain about sitting down and watching it with his sister.
We did have a rainy day and despite what the picture shows Mikayla and Brooklyn had a fun time running up and down the sidewalk in the rain.
One afternoon we took advantage of the pool and the kids went swimming with their cousins.
Although I would be quite content to sit on the side of the pool and watch I knew Brooklyn wouldn't be okay with that. She had a great time and mostly loved getting out and jumping back in. She was in the pool just as long as the big kids were.
And this little fish is becoming quite the independent swimmer.
We thought it would be fun to take an evening and go up to Osage Hills so we made it a family event. When we arrived the kids played on the playground.
Then we took a short hike down to the river.
Everyone enjoyed stopping to throw rocks in the river and took a shot at skipping them across the water. I think Craig was the winner with the most skips.

After the hike we enjoyed eating hot dogs and brats.

And then we finished the evening off with s'mores!
The weather was beautiful outside and it was a perfect night!
The kids were super excited about take some time to play at Sonic. We don't get to the beaches or lakes much so they enjoy having time to play in the sand.

And after only a few minutes of going down the slides they were hard at work playing and building in the sand.

By the time the boys were done it was about 3 times the size of this which of course they ran through and trampled once it was time to go.
Kambria turned 5 over spring break and invited Mikayla to a princess sleepover.
They got their nails, hair and make-up done.
Some of the pretties princesses I have ever seen!
One afternoon we also enjoyed going bowling. These 3 boys were given their own bowling lane and told they were old even to be in charge of keeping their own score. They did a great job and only needed a little help with the score when they got strikes or spares.
And these 3 took turns bowling on a lane of their own. Everyone had a fun time!
Spring Break Success so far!!!

One less tooth in that pretty smile

Kayla has had two bottom loose teeth for a while now. So much so that the permanent teeth have started coming in behind them. I kept reminding her that she needs to wiggle those teeth and get them out or the dentist would have to pull them out.
On March 3rd, she finally lost her first tooth. The story goes that she had done something to get her in trouble and was sitting on the couch for time-out. I guess she had nothing better to do than wiggle her tooth. I was in the other room and heard her yell "Mom I lost my tooth!!"  It actually was lost for a while and took us a good 10 minutes looking on the floor and through the couch cushions before we finally found it. She put it in the treasure chest that night and the tooth-fairy came!

Bruins alumni soccer game

(terrible pic with the I-phone but it was all I got)
At the end of February, Craig signed up to play in the first Bruin Alumni Soccer Game. He was a little skeptical about how it would end up. But they ended up playing even graduating years vs. odd graduating years and Craig had so much fun!! He was very glad he did it and hoping that they will continue to do it every year. Me and Austin went together just to two of us to watch him play and I really enjoyed just getting to spend that one on one time with Austin. It was a great night!

Crazy Cousins

Sometimes these girls are just so silly when they get together.

Happy Snow Day!!!

In February we finally got a snow day. I was starting to wonder if we would even get any snow this winter. I was secretly happy that we got enough snow for school to be cancelled (which doesn't take much in this town) but it does give us the chance to enjoy it cause when it snows it is usually melted and gone by the next day.
The kids were excited when they woke up and saw the snow covered ground.
They made snow angels.

It was Brooklyn's first time to experience the snow. She wasn't exactly sure about it and had a puzzled at times but she enjoyed walking around in it.
The kids wanted to build a snowman. It was terrible snow to build snowmen with but we managed to pack and force it together in a way that resembled snowmen.
Our three snow kids
The biggest reason the kids were excited to see the ground covered in snow was cause they knew that meant we would do some sledding.
We went with Jeff & Andrea & family and Glen and his kids. Everyone had a fun time going down the hill as you can see from the faces below:

Although I don't know who was having more fun.....the little kids or the big kids!!

And just as we were about to leave our other friends showed up. They moved here recently from Texas and had never been sledding before so we were happy to share that fun with them!

We had so much fun and were out sledding for about 2 hours total.
Gotta make the most of the snow when we get it!
