One Month Old

My baby girl is one month old. She is such a blessing to our family. She is becoming more alert and aware of her surroundings. It is fun to see those big blue eyes. When she is awake she often looks like she is trying to whistle.

Hopefully she will flash us a smile soon!!

She likes bathtime. During her first bath she cried a little at the beginning then decided it was kind of fun. Austin enjoyed soaking up the washcloth and rubbing her belly.

Austin has realized that she is here to stay. I still have to watch him carefully but he now doesn't seem to care as much if she is around. As of the last few days he has been more gentle and gives kisses on her head. He still likes to pull off her socks and pull her feet or snatch the bottle out of her mouth. Guess that is his way of teasing--just doing what big brothers do I guess.

We are still trying to work on the sleeping schedule. Some nights are better than others. She wakes up about every 2-3 hours and usually goes back to sleep quickly. She does grunt a lot while sleeping but I am learning to tune that out. She doesn't sleep in her pretty decorated crib, or even in the pack and play in our room, but in her carseat. We have found she sleeps best when all curled up tight. Hey, whatever works right? Hopefully she will convert to a matress soon.

But my favorite thing is holding her while she sleeps on my chest. I love that about newborns. I was sad when Austin would no longer sleep this way so I am enjoying every minute of it.

We are so happy to have Mikayla as part of our family!!

My older two boys both slept in their carseats for at least 6 months. It was rough to make the transition to a crib, but in the beginning you do anything to get sleep. With my third baby I vowed not to let him sleep in his carseat...we did that, but now he's almost 6 months and still sleeps swaddled...if it's not one thing, it's another!

So cute! She looks so much more alert now. Tyler was also a carseat lover too. Whatever works to get the sleep!
