Primary Program 2016

Austin and Mikayla did a great job participating in their primary program.
They sang the primary songs so well and memorized their speaking parts.
Mikayla's part: Our prophet today is President Monson. He tells us the things that God wants us to know. We can listen to our prophet speak at General Conference. Last General Conference he told us to be a good example to others. He asked us to speak with kind words, to serve others, and to be an example of faith. I know that if we listen to the prophet and do what he says we will be happy.

Austin's part: The first step of repentance is admitting that we did something wrong. When I was in Pre-K, I took home a toy that someone had brought to school, because I wanted to give it to my sister. My parents explained to me that this was wrong. I had to do the second step which is to say sorry. I had to apologize to my friend and say I was sorry I took the toy. The third step of repentance is to right the wrong. I did this by giving back the toy. The fourth step is to not do the wrong again. I have done this by trying not to ever take something that doesn't belong to me. Because of repentance we can be forgiven. I know my friend forgave me for taking her toy and I know Heavenly Father forgave me also.

I loved getting to listen to all the primary children bear their testimonies through words and song.
It really is the best Sunday of the year!

More October Pics

We participated in the National Walk-to-School Day by parking at the duck pond and walking the pathfinder over to the school.
At the last minute I decided to do the Woolaroc 8K run with these ladies. I didn't prepare for the run like I usually do in years past so I didn't think I would set a new personal record. But these ladies are quick runners and trying to keep up with them helped me finish with a time of 46:29 beating my previous time on this run by over one minute!
Playing a the park while waiting for Austin's soccer game to start.
Brooklyn is doing well in her "school" once a week. She made an apple pie.
Mikayla is enjoying activity days now that she is 8 years old.
They did a spa day with face masks and pedicures!
 Found Katelyn asleep like this...haha!
 Made some yummy Halloween treats!

Mikayla decided one day to write a whole bunch of thank-you cards and notes to friends, family, and neighbors one day. She's delivered most of them.
And even Abby decided to get into the Halloween spirit!

Happy Halloween!!

We had a Grim Reaper, a Pink Skeleton, a Bumblebee, and a Princess
invade our house for Halloween!
They had a fun time getting candy at the Trunk-or-Treat.
It's always fun to see all our church friends in their Halloween costumes.
Too big to be scared by this creepy guy in my parent's trunk.
Unlike Katelyn who was definitely not a fan!
On Halloween night we started our trick-or-treating at the houses of family in town. We started at Dave and Debbie's house.
Then to Chris and Kristi's house.
 My parents house
 Todd and Kelsey's house
 And Dennis and Vicki's house.
Then we did some trick-or-treating around our neighborhood. Andrea and I took the girls and babies around the block together. Mikayla and Kambria enjoyed every minute of it!
We let Austin, Connor and Klayton go all by themselves this year. I am sure they quickly discovered they could move from house to house a lot faster without us.
And these Halloween cuties enjoyed riding in the stroller sucking on lollypops!

Pumpkin Carving

We had carving pumpkins with the kids. The year Derek, Caty, and Nathan were in town so they got to join in on the fun too!
It was serious business de-gutting all these pumpkins.

Even the littlest ones wanted to join in on the fun.
Brian did a fantastic job supervising the whole process.
This year most of the kids free-handed their own jack-o-lantern faces which made everything go much faster then in the past.

The little ones enjoyed playing in the backyard while everyone else was carving their pumpkins.

And some of the finished jack-o-lanterns....
When I dragged Austin off his electronics to carve pumpkins he responded with "awe...carving pumpkins is so boring." Yet he chose to pick a more time consuming pattern to put on his pumpkin and didn't complain the whole time while he was doing his pumpkin. Ha!

Everyone brought yummy Halloween themed food.  We had everything from mummy dogs, pumpkin poo ( cheese balls), spider donuts, jack-o-lantern oranges, ghost string cheese, dirt pudding, caramel apples, rice crispy pumpkins, fun drinks, and a few more treats.
Eating our yummy Halloween dinner!
Jack-o-Lanterns at night:
