Labor day Weekend

Labor day Weekend started out with a tournament for Austin's soccer team. It was actually their first game of the season. They did a great job and came in 2nd place.
Then on Monday, we spent the day at Silver Dollar City with Jeff & Andrea and family.
We got their early before the rides even opened and the kids used that time to examine the map to see which rides they wanted to do the most.
We decided to head to the roller coasters first before the lines got long. First up was Powder Keg and since there was practically no line we did it twice in a row. Then we did Fire in the Hole followed by The Outlaw Run.

We did a little cooling off at the log ride.

Then to Wildfire!

They had a great time on the River Blast
(Jeff, Kambria, Mikayla, Connor on one side and Craig, Brooklyn, Austin, Klayton on the other)

Then they took a turn standing on the deck and spraying at other boats as they rode by---as if they weren't already wet enough.

Having more fun with the water. It was 90+ degrees outside so it felt nice to get wet here and there throughout the day.

More fun rides....only Andrea, Connor, and Klayton have the nerve to do that one.
Brooklyn and McKenna on the swings together. The Hyde family was also there.
Heading up the track on the roller coaster Thunderation which they rode several times.
Katelyn and Carter were both such good babies and good sports for tagging along while the rest of us had all the fun!!
It was a long exhausting day but it was so much fun!!

One Year Older

In August, both of these girls had birthday's and turned another year older reminding me that life moves so fast and my babies are growing up! They are both so beautiful and add so much love and joy to our family!!
Brooklyn is now 3 years old
Height: 38 inches
Weight: 33.4 pounds
Brooklyn has a sweet personality. Overall, she is easy going and doesn't raise much fuss. Somehow we seem to be moving through the toddler years without too much crying or tantrums. Maybe that's because I am too tired to be strict and she doesn't hear the word "no" as often as she should. Even though she is a big girl she still likes to be held. And even though she sleeps in her own bed she sneaks into our room during the middle of the night and climbs into bed with us.
She is still a picky eater and doesn't often try new foods. Her favorites are cereal, oatmeal, crackers, peanut butter, applesauce, yogurt, watermelon, pizza and spaghetti. I still can't get her to eat bread/rolls!! Her favorite drink above all else is Sunny-D. She would drink it all day if I let her.
Brooklyn enjoys running and playing, riding her bike and scooter, and jumping on the trampoline with her older siblings. She loves playing with friends and going to nursery at church and "school" once a week. She enjoying singing songs, knows her colors and can count to 10. Her favorite game is Candyland. She loves to watch Sofia the First, PJ Mask, and Carebears. She loves trying to keep up with her big brother and sister. She loves playing with them.  She has also stepped into the role of being a big sister so well. She is always kind to Katelyn and eager to tell me when baby is doing something she probably shouldn't be doing.
Brooklyn radiates joy, laughter, and sweetness!!
And oh those beautiful blond curls! How will I ever get the nerve to cut her hair!!
We love this beautiful girl and are so happy to have her in our family!!
Katelyn is now 1 year old
Height: 31 inches
Weight: 22.2 pounds
Head: 47 centimeters
Katelyn has come into her own personality. She jibber and jabbers and likes to copy and imitate what she sees. She claps her hands, plays peek-a-boo, waves at the school bus and says "mmm" when you feed her something yummy! She has a head full of brown curls in the back and has at least 11 teeth last time I counted.
She is a mama's girl. She can be content and happy with whoever she is with until I walk into sight. She likes to be held a lot which makes getting stuff done around the house more difficult. But I try to remind myself that sometimes it's okay if things don't get done. Just enjoy this baby!!
Some of her favorite things are bath time and playing outside. Things that she loves to get her hands on that she shouldn't are cell phones, car keys, tv remotes, and doggy food/water bowl.
This girl is on the move and keeps me busy. She started taking her first steps right around her birthday and is becoming a walker more than a crawler. She gets into things quick now and can make a mess fast. She unloads the dishwasher faster than I can load it and if I leave the bottom drawer open there will be Ziploc baggies all over the floor in no time. She is always reaching and grabbing at stuff trying to get her hands on everything. She is curious and trying to figure out the world around her.
Her three older siblings love her and are good at helping her and playing with her. She is a pretty good sport and will go along with what they want her to do.
We love our baby Katelyn and are so happy to have her in our family!!
Glad these two girls are close in age and get to grow up together!
Sisters can be the best of friends!!

Rain Gutter Regatta

For scouts, Austin made an OSU boat to race for the Rain Gutter Regatta.
It was fun to see all the different designs the boys chose to put on their boys.
(Olympics and Play for Burke symbol)
American boats were a pretty popular choice.
 Race Time!! Blow those Boats!

And after the boat racing we had treats!!!
(I was in charge of doing the treats and think they turned out pretty cute)

Conquer the Gauntlet

Earlier this year we talked about what fun race we wanted to do together and decided on Conquer the Gauntlet which is Craig's favorite. And Kristi decided to join us!
My brother Nathan and wife Dayleigh decided to join us too!!
And a couple more familiar faces!
Conquer the Gauntlet is a 4 mile with 25 obstacles. It is a tough run and you can't do all the obstacles on your own. It is a team effort. This was the first obstacle. The last time we did this race I remember this obstacle because it scared me the most. You definitely have to have some trust in the person at the top who is helping to pull you up!

Wheel it in and pull it out!

After climbing this wall we were at the highest place in Tulsa County.
 And this was the view!!!
At that point we had to grab a log and walk down the hillside and then back up it.

Finally after running half of the race we hit some water! So cold and yucky yet so refreshing!

The inverted monkey bars. So hard almost impossible for me!
Good thing there is a pit of water to fall in when the attempt fails.
At the very end of the race is the 5 walls of fury!! Craig made it over every one!
And this was the very last obstacle!
We may not have "conquered" the gauntlet exactly but we made it through!!
And had a fun time doing it together!
