Warrior Dash

On June 2nd, we traveled down to Morris OK for the Warrior Dash 2012.
Here we are before the run...all nice a clean.
(Ben and Michelle Morris, Michael Meroney, Craig and Me)
Wondering what the Warrior Dash Is??
Overcoming 12 obstacles while running a 3.11 mile coarse. This year the obstacles included:
1. Hard Rain: trudge through water and climb above the rain
2. Storming Normandy: fight through the menacing military crawl
3. Teetering Traverse: level your nerves as you teeter through a soaring track
4. Chaotic Crossover: crawl across the tangled nets
5. Horizontal Hike: voyage over the arching obstruction
6. Deadmans Drop: climb to the top and over the unhandy hurdle
7. The Trenches: stay low and crawl through the dirt and duck under logs
8. Great Warrior Wall: conquer the wooden barricade
9. Barriacade Breakdown: hurdle over the barricades and crawl under barbed wire
10. Cargo Climb: maneuver over the tall cargo nets
11. Warrior Roast: leap over the warrior fires
12. Muddy Mayhem: scramble beneath barbed wire as you near the finish
So here we are after the run.
 Here's a close up.
Craig was pretty excited that his childhood best friend was there running with him.
 Pile of donated shoes
Post race there was no clean water wash off like last year....just the pond.
So fun!! I love being able to do things like this together!!

May Door of Fame

Here's the kids artwork for the month of may.
On the last day of school, I assumed that Austin would bring home several pages of school work but I was suprised when he was sent home with a large bundle of papers. It was fun going through them with him after school. Here are a couple of my favorite things:
He did a good job portraying the story of "The 3 Little Pigs"
When Austin was King of the Day, all of his classmates would draw a picture of him which is what is in this book.......hilarious stuff.
 Austin's drawing of himself.....not bad.
Now this does not suprise me one bit.
My absolute favorite is the ABC book he made.
Here are a couple example pages:

Even if Austin was copying what he saw his teacher draw on the the board, I was pretty impressed that Austin could draw things so well.

Last Week of School

The last week of school was filled with fun activities. On monday, Austin's class walked over to Jo-Allen Park and me and Kayla met him there. We ate sack lunches together and then the kids got to explore.
Austin holding a small pond turtle that was caught
We attempted to do some "fishing" for crawdads with a hot-dog on a string.
But the only thing we caught was some pond moss.
Austin was delighted when he caught a dragonfly with his net and proudly enjoyed showing all his classmates and teachers.
On tuesday, Austin had field day at his school. They played all kinds of games together.
Austin reaching in the ice water for marbles.
Water balloon relay elbows to elbows.
Water balloon relay over the head.
 Water Fight-----the kids favorite!!
Austin with his teacher, Mrs. Ruddick, on the last day of school.
Austin with Mrs. Hall (teacher's assistant)
It was a great school year!! I have enjoyed watching Austin grow so much this year....not only academically but socially also. He had such great teachers and made lots of wonderful friends!!

Happy Mother's Day

Mother's Day was a good day. The day before I was a little down because I was feeling frustrated not being able to accomplish all the things as a mother that I wanted to in my time table. I was also a little sad about motherhood hopes and wishes that had not been fullfilled.
But those feelings quickly passed because these 2 kids bring me so much joy and happiness!!
I am so blessed!!
I am grateful to be a mother and spend my days with these 2 adorable children of mine!!

Spring Soccer

We were excited to start Spring soccer since Austin enjoyed it so much last Fall.
Left to Right: Braxton (school friend), Klayton (cousin), Austin, and Nathan (church friend)
Austin easily picked up where he left off last fall and was eager to get the ball.
He scored at least one goal every game we played.....nice form don't you think?
Notice the tongue sticking out in this pic....he does that when he is concentrating hard on something.
Austin and Klayton having a good time

While the boys played, Kayla and Kambria entertained themselves by running around and blowing bubbles.
 Half-time huddle and snack
A couple times they played full field which was a lot of kids going after the ball at once

 Post-game high-fives
Austin really enjoys having his dad coach his team
We celebrated a great season handing out trophies at Cherry-Berry.

Kiddie Park

The first weekend in May we enjoyed going to opening night of the Kiddie Park. This is such a happy fun place and I'm glad that we get to enjoy it.
 The kids on the turtles
Waiting in line for the rollar-coaster
The kids LOVE this ride.....me and Kayla were in the row behind these guys
Round and round on the carosel
Love to see the kids smile
Austin and Kayla looking at themselves in the goofy mirrors
On the airplanes.....Austin knows how to fly this plane up in the air like a pro
 Stopping for some ice-cream
Yumm Yumm!!
We ended our evening with the train ride.
 Choo Choo!!
We even saw this funny clown.....Grandpa Dennis!! At first Kayla just stared and stared at him. I don't think she believed me at first when I told her who he really was.
It was a fun night at the Kiddie Park!!
