Kids Do The Strangest Things Part 2

NEW SHOES!!
(I have no idea how he came up with this idea)
While I was in the kitchen cooking dinner I could hear Austin in the family room saying:
"Go through tunnel.....I stuck!"

"Go through tunnel.....I stuck!"

After going to investigate what this 2 year old was talking about, this is what I found.

P.S. Tunnels are one of his new favorite discoveries and anything can quickly turn into a tunnel for his enjoyment!!

Back from Sweden!!

So my brother just returned yesterday from a 2 year mission in Sweden!! So proud of him!! We were all excited and eager for his arrival at the airport. We decided to take the welcome home sign with us...figured what better way to be greeted home than with a big sign and cheers from your family!! Now this may be a common occurance at the SLC airport but at the Tulsa Airport...yeah, not so much. At least it was a late night arriving flight and the airport wasn't that crowded so we didn't embarrass him too much.
Actually it was a touching moment to see the sweet embrace of a mother and son after 2 years of not seeing each other and only 4 phone call visits. After arriving back to the house we all followed Brandon around as he picked out the new things my dad had done to the house while he was gone. Then we knelt and had a family prayer--once again a touching moment. Then it was to the Swedish chocolate. YUMM!! YUMM!!
Glad to have you back home Brandon!!!

Kids Do The Strangest Things

For some strange reason, Mikayla decided that it was kind of fun to hold things with her mouth and go pracing around the room either by crawling on the floor or walking along with couch all while holding an object with her mouth. Earlier in the day it was a folded piece of paper. Then later that night it was a baby wipe and then a diaper. (don't worry they were clean) And not wanting to be left out of the picture taking,
Austin decided to join in!!

FOUND!!!

So after months of not being able to find "Jet" and Quincy (Austin's favorite Einstein) I figured that they must be long gone. Every time Austin asked about them I would just say "they are hiding really good" and luckily he was content with that explanation. Well one night for some reason we took off the couch cushion and there they were. "JET!! QUINCY!!" I don't know who was more excited...me or Austin. But for weeks later everytime Austin would pull out Jet or Quincy to play with, it was followed by "Jet...Quincy...hiding in couch". I love the memory of a 2 year old.

Wicked

So me and Craig got to take a night off from the kids and enjoy each other's company at the musical WICKED!! And it was absolutely amazing!! I won't go into any details but if you have the opportunity to go you MUST!! The music was powerful and the storyline dramatic yet comical at the same time. It was wonderful and now Craig is hooked...he is begging me to go and see it again and has gotten the CD and plays the music all the time. We will definately go and see it again the next time it comes through town.

First Trip to the Dentist

So knowing how uncooperative Austin is at the doctor's office I was a little nervous to see how this trip would go. It was a relief to see that his Nursery teacher would be his hygienist and she was great with him. He sat on my lap while she showed him all of her "cool" tools like the one that squirts out water, the one that sucks up the water, and the one that brushes the teeth. She brushed Austin's fingernails and he was having a great time until she went for the mouth. He only gave her about 2 seconds on his teeth and then he was finished with that. Oh well, I figured as much. But he did get a stretchy frog and lizard and a Spiderman sticker so the visit was a success to him. I actually made this trip because I noticed a discolored spot on one of his back teeth and sure enough it is a cavity. So we will be making a trip back and Austin will have to be sedated. Should be fun :)

More Summer Fun

Now that the weather has finally cooled off some we have been able to get outside more and have made several trips to the playground and the Kiddy Park.

Austin loves the rollar coaster at the Kiddie Park and I love to take him on it. After the ride is over he will say "more more" or "again again" or "one more time".

And Mikayla still loves the little cars. She giggles and laughs as she rides round and round.
